Getting Clear on Goals and Keeping it REAL

"When September Ends" Copyright@amychaletdesignstudios2026

September has been a calm month for me, and honestly, I’ve really enjoyed that. I feel like a lot of the pressure and expectations lifted once my website was finally launched. The launch went pretty much exactly how I expected it to, and I’m actually proud of myself for not spending any time feeling discouraged about it.

My website was never really meant to be a place where I expected my friends and family to buy my art (although you absolutely can if you want to! 😉). The bigger purpose was to have a beautiful, professional home for my artwork and a place where potential clients and businesses could see what I’m creating.

This month, I’ve also gained some clarity about where I want to put my energy next. Rather than focusing on selling individual products myself, I want to focus on getting my artwork into the hands of businesses and pursuing licensing opportunities where my designs can become products.

The more I’ve looked into print-on-demand, the more I’ve realized just how expensive it can be to produce and ship a single item. That doesn’t mean I’m giving up on the dream of eventually working with a manufacturer to create beautiful, specialized products featuring my artwork. I still absolutely want to do that! It just won’t be my focus this year.

For now, I’m excited to shift my focus toward finding the right people, making connections, and getting my artwork in front of businesses that can see its potential. And honestly, it feels really good to have a clearer direction.

September Designs

This month, we came back from a month-long break from art, and I was so happy to have everyone back in the studio. I missed them so much—I really do love this group of kids!

Before classes started, I spent six full days cleaning and resetting the studio. 😂 I am determined to work with the kids this semester to keep it in great shape, both to make everyone’s experience better and to hopefully avoid another six-day studio refresh in January!

I have such a lively bunch this semester, and there is SO much talent in this group. I’m excited to see what they create and how much they grow this year. There is something really special about watching these kids develop their creativity and confidence, and I feel very lucky that I get to be part of it.

My September Goals

I’m trying something a little different with my goals this month—one goal for each area of my life. Some are ambitious, some are practical, and some are things I’ve apparently been putting off for three years. 😂

1. Business: Contact 100 companies, starting with every fabric company I can find. (I’ll mostly be supervising my daughter as she takes on this project!)

2. Physical: Do one pull-up. (I’m almost there!)

3. Self-Reliance: Start developing our land by the river. (More on this later!)

4. Social: Begin monthly dinner parties with random families to help bring my church family together.

5. Spiritual: Kneel to pray every day, giving my prayers a clear intention, beginning, and end.

6. Conservation: Alter five pieces of clothing instead of buying new.

7. Intellectual: Learn to sew and finish an American history course with my family.

8. Creative: Finally paint my husband the mountain goat standing on a cliff that he requested three years ago. 😂

9. Service: Paint a landscape as a wedding gift for a couple.

10. Relationships: Make dinner for my family twice a week. (Lame, I know! 😂 But apparently this needs to be a goal.)

I just wanted you to feel better about yourself after reading this 😆. I hope you enjoy the most perfect weather of the year! What are 3 goals you are working on right now? I would love to hear back from you! Thanks for taking the time to open this first newsletter.

Favorite products I have tried lately:

Awkward, now you will know my bra size! You will thank me, I promise.

The most beautiful table cloth and I could not believe how cheap (its even cheaper on Shein though)

Some call it being a germ freak, I call it perfectly normal... don't be gross

I will never tan again on purpose. This is an organic, safe, gorgous and natural looking tan with amazing moisture. When they tell you it doesnt stink though, they are lying. You have to apply this in the morning after your shower. Do not kiss your husband, let alone get in bed without a body shower.

A favorite art supply: handmade paper
